The Mac My Day charity was founded by Master of Wine Rebecca Gibb after her son Mac was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). This charity blends the goodwill of the Lakes food and drinks scene with a worthy cause to accelerate research into this rare but devastating condition.

About Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy affects approximately one in 3,500 boys worldwide, causing progressive muscle weakness and degeneration.

Children with DMD typically lose the ability to walk by their early teens, with life expectancy severely impacted without intervention.

While there is currently no cure, promising research is advancing rapidly – and every pound raised brings us closer to breakthrough treatments that could transform or save young lives.

Our Mission

Through events like Taste the Lakes, Mac My Day is building a movement where we can make an impact – and have a good time doing it. It's about becoming a force for hope, ensuring that boys like Mac have the brightest possible future ahead of them.
